Services we offer- Manual handling surveillance which is used to detect, report and management manual handling injuries
- Follow-on Occupational Physician services where the injury is such that work place adjustment or medical treatment is required
- On and off site Physiotherapy services to support injured employees
- Instruction and training packages led by Physiotherapists or nurses which encourage good ergonomic practices such as posture and the importance of following a warm-up regime
General Information
Manual handling activities at work can result in a wide range of Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD’s). Disorders of this type affect muscles, joints, tendons and supporting tissues and are usually associated with pain and loss of function.
MSD’s are the most commonly reported work-related condition in the UK.
In the year 2001/02 12.3 million working days were lost due to musculoskeletal disorders (MSD's). In 1995/6 the cost to society of MSD's amounted to £5.7 billion.
